Whether it be for advice, repairs, additions or a full reconstruction, we highly recommend the services of Roseglenn Constructions.
We bought an old house which needed reconstruction before we could move into the property, and our financial situation required that we move as soon as possible. Roseglenn Constructions' primary interest was to satisfy our specified criteria (timeframe, budget and quality), they offered timely advice and information based on decades of local building experience in all aspects of the build.
One of the outstanding qualities of Roseglenn Constructions is a genuine concern for the client. This was demonstrated many times through the process, including direct and constructive contact with neighbours, suppliers and various contractors. Principal John Woods has a relaxed, friendly and professional manner, as has Mick, who is a very thoughtful builder of substantial experience and skill — he can build anything with a smile, and will always help the client in any way possible. These people are central to Roseglenn Constructions and consistently go out of their way to provide a quality service based upon the requirements and circumstance of a specific client.
Roseglenn Constructions came highly recommended and provided us with a very professional service in terms of honest impartial advice, project planning and managing the build itself. This project was completed inside the anticipated timeframe and within budget, despite a number of unforeseeable potentially serious delays arising through the process. We were delighted with the way this project was managed and implemented!

“After our purchase of our home in Deakin we undertook some renovations to instantly improve the home, adding a fourth bedroom, removing a wall, altering the kitchen, electrical work, repairing damaged walls, replacing a rotting fence, gates and other general repairs. John came in assessed the scale of the work and provided a very reasonable price for the activities – he didn’t baulk when we asked that the activity be completed in 10 working days.
The team arrived at the time they said they would and set about getting everything done – they were accommodating and accepted changes and additional tasks without complaint, even when we asked that the original completion date be achieved. Mick, arguably the best carpenter in Canberra, systematically worked his way through getting the structures in place. John had his tradies on the job exactly when he said they would be there and all of them provided a high quality finish with a professional attitude.
It was an absolute pleasure doing business with John – nothing was a problem and everything was achieved, including the property being professionally cleaned – with a day to spare.
Our next task is to replace the main bathroom, which John, Mick and the team will be doing for us.
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Roseglenn Constructions for any and all building tasks, from minor works to major renovations – they are a quality team."

We were very impressed with the work John and Mick did on a friend's renovations, so we invited them to take care of a much smaller job: the replacement of our back deck. From the beginning, we were really impressed with John and Mick's professionalism. They responded to emails quickly and clearly, answered all our questions promptly, and explained what was happening through every step of the process. Even the discovery of an abandoned set of concrete steps in the middle of the old deck didn't slow them down! They liaised with ACTEW and ACTPLA on our behalf, gave great recommendations for our project, and left an immaculate work site. Mick's carpentry work is exceptional: he has created for us a beautiful and sturdy deck, and accommodated the visits of the neighbourhood dogs with a cheerful smile.
The project was on time and in budget, and we're very, very happy with the result. We would definitely recommend John and Mick without hesitation: their professionalism and friendliness were first-rate.

The first thing that I would like to say about John - and his company Roseglenn Constructions - is that he is a person with whom one can have excellent interaction. He will keep to his word. His people skills are just the best. He can be relied upon to follow up on whatever information is required very quickly. He is extremely respectful and nothing is too much trouble for him. His trades and labourers have great respect for him too.
I am a retired HIA Canberra award-winning architectural designer/builder who, having recently returned to Canberra and not being fit enough to do work that I wanted done, finally hired John and his chosen carpenter to do some tricky renovations for me. It seemed to me that he had excellent expertise and knowledge for the job. This was over two years ago. I was so pleased with his initial internal detailed work that I could see that because of his complete understanding of structure that he was also suitable to use for the changing of my roof structure. This he and his carpenter did with great aplomb - this job could not have been given to anyone other than someone who was very experienced in roofing carpentry - which is a rarity to find these days. I have since employed him to do a difficult gutting and complete renovation of a house which again required complex structural tasks to be done - and asbestos removal. It has all been completed magnificently, reliably, and to the highest standard. He paid particular attention to developing good relationships with the neighbours too which I regard as very important. It was a very busy and happy work site.
I would like to tell you of the way he works with his chosen carpenter. He and his very experienced carpenter have worked together for many years. His carpenter does not leave the site during his work hours - he works methodically and steadily all day. John, the overseer and supervisor, supplies him in advance with all his materials and should he be short of some equipment (which is unusual) John gets it for him immediately. So there is no down time on the working day. John and his carpenter combine their extensive knowledge well and always discuss the manner in which they will approach a given challenge.
John is able to organise architect-drawn plans and do all the preparatory work that is required for ACTPLA, the private certifiers, and all insurance details before actual work begins on site. He and his co-workers are to be highly commended.

Bathroom Renovation 2015
John and Mick, together with other members of the outstanding Roseglenn Constructions team, completed a challenging renovation for me early this year. In six weeks they transformed three small internal rooms in my aging apartment (laundry, toilet, and bathroom) into two beautiful new rooms: a spacious bathroom and a cleverly designed, efficient laundry. The project was completed on time and within budget.
Everything was meticulously prepared, but it was still impressive how smoothly the work proceeded. All fittings – from vanity and toilet suite down to the smallest coat hook – as well as tiles and other materials were brought to the apartment before demolition began and stored until required. Joinery was measured in advance and delivered and installed in one day.
Great care was taken to protect the rest of my place from dust and mess: floors were kept covered, rubble was removed swiftly and discreetly, and at the end of each day the worksite was left clean and tidy in readiness for the next morning. There was no inconvenience to neighbouring apartments, and unavoidable noise only occurred when other people would least likely be affected.
I already knew John and Mick: this was their second renovation for me. They are perfectionists with a vast knowledge of all areas of building between them. Equally important, they are totally reliable, very approachable, kind and considerate. When family matters meant I needed to go away at short notice for a few days, they went out of their way to help me and work continued without disruption.
John managed the renovation and oversaw each step. As work progressed he kept me informed, and he was generous with his time whenever I wanted to discuss something. The team he chose for the job were, without exception, highly skilled craftsmen who took pride in their work. As a result, the plumbing, joinery, electrical work, tiling, and painting are of the highest standard.
Mick can turn his hand to many things – from demolition to delicate polishing – with enthusiasm, and he has an amazing eye for deciding exactly where fittings should go.
John is an outstanding project manager, and it is clear that he loves what he does. He has a loyal team – he respects them and they return the respect – and he strives always to achieve the best possible result for his client.
Everyone did a first-rate job. I now have an impressive laundry with ample work space and plenty of storage. My bathroom is everything I wished for – and more. It looks superb, it suits me perfectly, it is easy to keep clean and a pleasure to use.
The renovation speaks for itself. John and Mick and the Roseglenn Constructions team created two wonderful rooms for me. I cannot thank them enough.
